Grants & Support Services

( Please note that GetOut! is NOT ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS right now, until further notice. We’re in the midst of some changes. Please stay tuned... )

The Get Out! Grants programs were designed (in consultation with youth and a community advisory committee) to assist youth, and youth-serving or community-based organizations to develop, implement and engage in sport, recreation, arts or cultural activities. Projects must be new (or an enhancement of existing programs), engage diverse or less active youth between the ages of 12 - 24, and have a positive impact on youth, among other criteria.

The pilot phase of the Get Out! Youth Legacy Program was launched in December 2004. The application deadline for initiatives under this program was January 31, 2005. Read the announcement ›››

On March 31, 2005 Council approved several initiatives under this program. Read the Council report ›››

On April 28, 2005 Council approved continuance of the program. Read the Council report ›››

Recreation Programs

Drop into your local community centre, ice rink, pool or fitness centre. Bring your friends. Make new ones.

Got something on your mind? Connect with a youth Worker to find out how you can get involved.

Want to try something new? Got an idea? What to take charge? Want to get buff? You name a sport—hockey, swimming, baseball—you can probably get into it at one of our centres. Martial arts, golf lessons, improv theatre, Hip Hop, kayaking, “Boards and ‘Blades.”

That’s just a sample. There’s lots more! Or—come up with your own ideas and bring your friends!

Here’s an idea—how about “Chillin on Ice”—Late Night Skating at Killarney ice Rink—grab your friends and head on over any Saturday night, 10:45 pm ‘til 12:15 am! $2 plus $1 skate rental, 13-19 years only; for details, check out the Killarney Rink at 49th & Rupert/Kerr or call 604-718-8200 for more info.
