MultiCultural Youth Soccer

Sponsor: Riley Park, Immigrant Services Society

multicultural soccer youthDeveloped by the MY Circle Youth Action Teaam, the Multicultural Youth Soccer League is a program for male and female youth from any background to play the highly global sport of soccer.

The goal is to develop a weekly indoor soccer program that would encourage physical activity and serve as an outreach program for new immigrants that are currently not connected to community sports. The program will target immigrant youth in the community that are 14-18 and will initially begin with a purely drop-in format.

The Multicultural Youth Soccer League program will promote physical activity and well being and a sense of community for a population of youth that have traditionally suffered from racism, financial and language barriers.

From this point the league will span into various other community centres. The league will move into partnering centres such as Killarney and Sunset. This will allow the creation of splinter leagues such as an all girls league and a junior and senior bracket for the league. The growth within the league will emerge outward as teams from their perspective community centres will play against other community centres.
