Create Now! offers aspiring female performers a series of workshops that provide an opportunity to explore self creation in a welcoming and supportive manner. Workshops will focus on a series of creation activities involving writing, directing, acting and physicality. Young artists will work and learn alongside professional artists, forming a network of intergenerational female artists who will work collectively to create a piece of theatre. The project culminates in a showing of the work developed by the participating youth.
The goals of the program are:
- To give young women the tools for creation that makes playmaking accessible and fun, and which can be drawn on as a reference and inspiration in their future work;
- To provide young women the realization of their creative impulses giving them the power to create for themselves as well as creating space for women like them on the stage;
- To provide aspiring artists a creative method toolkit that they can use as a reference and inspiration in their future work.
