Guitar Lessons for Youth with Disabilities
Sponsor: Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House
Youth Representative: Tommy
The Guitar Lessons for Youth with Disabilities project will offer participants the opportunity to learn to play the guitar at the Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House.
Project goals are:
- To brighten lives by helping the students learn and understand the concepts of the instrument while increasing self esteem;
- To create more interaction with the “big world” outside their regular environments;
- To give students a chance to have fun; and,
- To give students a chance to meet new people, an opportunity to blend in with more people and the chance to be involved in more community events.
The Guitar Lessons for Youth with Disabilities project is supported by the Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House. The Cedar Cottage has a network of preventative, community based social service programs. All programs are designed with the commitment to work in partnership with agencies, public institutions, business and residents to address specific social problems or needs.
