Marpole GETOUT! Youth Action Team

Youth at Churchill Secondary School got out and got connected to all the great things Vancouver has to offer.

The Marpole-Churchill YAT was started at Churchill Secondary School with a group of youth who have recently immigrated from China . They planned activities that helped the group and their peers to face issues like isolation, difficult adjustments and language barriers that often come as part of the experience of immigration. And of course, the most important: they had a great time!

Some of their plans include outdoor trips and activities, as well as skill-building workshops to help plan and organize future projects they dream up. The group met at Marpole Community Centre every week and also led a participatory action research project in their community.
